The Department carries out this mission through effective administration and enforcement of the Illinois Insurance Code (215 ILCS 5/1 et seq.), the Illinois Pension Code (40 ILCS 5/1-101 et seq.), and related laws and regulations, including Title 50 of the Illinois Administrative Code. The Director is also responsible for the operations of the Office of the Special Deputy Receiver (OSD), which handles the affairs of insurance companies placed in rehabilitation, conservation or liquidation.
