Illinois Department of Insurance kicks off TV and radio ad campaign reminding residents to get covered before the end of ACA Open Enrollment
Chicago - Highlighting the coming deadline to enroll in health insurance for next year under the Affordable Care Act, Get Covered Illinois began airing TV and radio ads in Chicago and Springfield to remind consumers that open enrollment ends December 15, 2019. The TV ads will run in the Chicago and Springfield markets, while radio ads will run in those markets and Carbondale through December 15th. View the TV ad here.
"Under my administration, Illinois will be a national leader in ensuring that access to health care is a right and not a privilege," said Governor JB Pritzker. "During this open enrollment period, it's critical for residents to review their coverage and make sure they've picked the best plan for themselves and their families."
After December 15th, consumers can no longer purchase insurance coverage on the marketplace, unless they have a qualifying life event, such as getting married, becoming a new parent, or losing health care coverage. The $300,000 paid media campaign also highlights coverage plans for mental health and substance use disorder treatment.
"We're reaching out to Illinoisans to encourage them to enroll in a health insurance plan before the December 15th deadline and to let them know about coverage options for mental health and substance use disorders, "said IDOI Director Robert Muriel. "We realize that people are busy this holiday season, but if you need health insurance, shopping for the right plan should be on your list of things to do."
Get Covered Illinois (GCI), is the official health insurance marketplace or "exchange" where Illinois consumers can purchase health insurance coverage and apply for subsidies and rebates from the federal government to help lower their monthly premium costs.
